The key reason for which Google named this Android 4.4 as a KitKat is because of the fact “some people truly understand the taste of key lime pie,” as per the statement of John Lagerling, the director of the Android partnerships. As the Android coders are usually in deep love with KitKat chocolate, so company made up their mind to name Android phone 4.4 as KitKat which is the next-generation version of Android.

However, Google even reached to Nestle and, in just one day, both came to the mutual agreement. Till this date, the Key Lime Pie is yet being operated by Google as the internal reference code for KitKat, Android 4.4.

Android 5.0 can arrive in the year 2014 because of launching of Android phone 4.4 in fall of year 2013. Although rumors are spreading with regard to which name must better fall in 2014 version. As “K” is now out, So, Key Lime Pie cannot be again used, since it is even the internal name of KitKat. But now what is represented by “L”? For the Android 5.0 version, Liquorice, Lemon Drop or Lollipop is few possible options to avoid the repetition of names and letter. During the name evolution of Key Lime Pie, it is evident that name would turn to be the Lemon Meringue Pie.
