Indoor Maps: New Apps from Google Android

If you are a tourist and you don’t know exactly where you are at the San Francisco International Airport or at the Narita International Airport in Japan, have no fear. If you are a smartphone user that utilizes Google Android then you can easily locate where you are with the aid of the new indoor map interface.

Just like Google Earth, the new indoor map interface can give you the detailed floor plan which will automatically appear on the screen and zoomed in on the building where a “blue dot” will indicate your location. It also automatically updates which floor you’re on when you moved up or down a level in a building that has multiple floors.

With this application, you will never be lost for sure. This is also currently being offered for businesses who want to sign up for their premises to get mapped. The downside though is that it is only available for some buildings in America like Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and The Home Depot, and in Japan, Daimaru and Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi location. The good news – Google is currently mapping out some areas in the UK and more indoor maps will be available soon.
