Sony Xperia Z: Japan’s Top Seller Smartphone

After dropping the ‘Ericsson’ name, Sony has released its flagship device, the new Sony Xperia Z, which became the best-selling smartphone in Japan on the first week of its released. Sony’s first-ever dual-core smartphone is catching up with its rivals with its unique transparent belt design and high-density 720p display.

The new Xperia Z veered away from the soft-touch plastic body and is now encased in a beautiful glass body with every port covered by a protective plastic flap; so there is no holes, making it both dust- and waterproof at 3 feet or 1-meter deep. On its top lie the 2MP front-facing camera and a discreet LED hidden towards the right for notifications.

A super-thin smartphone at 7.9mm, it also comes with a large 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a super high-density 441ppi. It also uses the Mobile BRAVIA 2 engine for great image quality. The Sony Xperia Z also runs on a quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage, which makes it a worthy opponent among the newer smartphone models today.
